Chhattisgarh Crime: In a shocking incident apparently fueled by mobile phone addiction, a 14-year-old girl allegedly hacked her older brother to death with an axe in Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai (KCG) district of Chhattisgarh after he reprimanded her for “talking to boys” on the phone.

According to the police, the teenager was irked with her 18-year-old brother after he scolded her for talked to boys on mobile phone and warned her not to use the device anymore. Later, when her brother was asleep, the girl in a fit of rage, slashed his throat with an axe, killing him on the spot, they said.

Giving details, an official said the girl then took a shower to clean the blood stains on her clothes and later told the neighbours that her brother had been murdered.

However, police suspected something was fishy after they failed to find any signs of struggle or robbery in the house following which they detained the victim’s sister who confessed to the brutal murder during questioning, the official said.

“A 14-year-old girl has been detained for the offence that took place at Amlidihkala village under Chhuikhadan police station limits on Friday”, the local police said in an official statement.

As per the statement, the girl reportedly told the police that she killed her older brother when other family members had gone out for work and the siblings were home alone.

The accused revealed that she was angry at her brother because he had chastised her for using a mobile phone, claiming she talked to boys and threatened to take away her phone if she did not stop, the police statement said.

A case has been registered in this regard under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, the statement said, adding that further investigation in the matter is underway.
