Over the weekend, the Victoria Scout Group and Xaghra Scout Group, organised a weekend of outdoor activities – Gost fil-Berah.
The event – held in Dwejra Valley – gave an opportunity for children, youths and families to experience outdoor activities normally carried out by the scouts while at camp under canvas.
The Minister for Gozo Justyne Caruana, visited Dwejra to speak to the organisers and some of the youngsters taking part.
She congratulated both Scout Groups on the “authentic experience to understand and appreciate our natural heritage.”
Over the two days there were varied workshops aimed at different interests, nature trails, biodiversity expedition, fire-starting, cooking, pioneering and ropework, sinnets and camp craft, team building games and a zipline.
This initiative was supported by the Ministry for Gozo NGOs Assistance Scheme, a funding programme for Voluntary Organisations on the Island of Gozo.
