Number of employees in Latvia is highest in past 20 years

The number of registered employees in Latvia is the highest in the past 20 years, said State Employment Agency director Evita Simsone in an interview with commercial LNT television on December 14th, cites LETA.
She said that the number of vacancies registered with the agency is also
growing right now.
Simsone said that the average wage offered for the vacancies registered
with the agency is EUR 840 a month, which is close to the average wage in the
country.
Speaking about average unemployed person, Simsone said that they are mostly
women, people around the age of 50, and people with secondary or elementary
education.
As reported, the registered unemployment reached 6.7% in November, up 0.1%age
point from October. There were 61,538 unemployed people registered with the
State Employment Agency in late November, growing by 524 people from the
previous month.
At the end of last November, the unemployment rate was at 8%.
