(WHDH) — More than 1,800 people braved the cold and participated in the annual ‘polar plunge’ in Alaska.

The plunge raises money for the Alaskan Special Olympics.

Event coordinators said this year’s plunge brought more than $300,000 to benefit the program which holds both the winter and summer games.
