Leanna Wilcox honored as Northwest Missouri’s top elementary counselor in 2024

Leanna Wilcox, a former resident of Trenton, has been named the 2024 Northwest Missouri Elementary School Counselor of the Year.

The announcement came during a surprise assembly attended by her colleagues and approximately 450 elementary students from grades one through five. Wilcox, who competes for the title of Elementary School Counselor of the Year in Missouri, boasts an impressive academic background. She is a Trenton High School and North Central Missouri College graduate, holding a bachelor’s degree and two master’s degrees from MidAmerica Nazarene University in Olathe, Kansas.

Currently, Wilcox is concluding her 24th year in elementary education. Her career includes teaching at the Jamesport Tri-County School, and she now serves as the elementary school counselor within the Lathrop School System. Her parents, Linda and Rex Dannull, who reside in Trenton.
