TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The duel between Indonesia U-17 National Team and North Korea will be presented in the quarterfinals of the Asia U-17 Cup 2025. The match will take place at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah on Monday, April 14, 2025, at 9:00 pm WIB (Western Indonesia Time) and will be broadcast live by RCTI and Vision+.
The head coach of the North Korean U-17 team, O Thae Song, expressed his pride to his players after advancing to the quarterfinals of the Asia U-17 Cup 2025. They advanced after drawing 2-2 against Oman in the last Group D match last Friday.
The draw was enough to not only take North Korea to the knockout rounds, but also secure a ticket to the 2025 U-17 World Cup in Qatar. "We are very happy with this result. We have been training and preparing for this moment for a long time. The players are happy to have qualified for the World Cup," said Thae Song, quoted from AFC.
North Korea is in second place in Group D and will face Indonesia in the quarterfinals. Captain Kim Yu Jin played a key role against Oman, with one goal and one assist, which also made North Korea appear in the FIFA U-17 World Cup for the first time in the last eight years.
Instead of responding to the euphoria of qualifying for the World Cup, Thae Song is more focused on the team's main priority, which is the big match against the Indonesia U-17 National Team. He believes that Nova Arianto's team is currently in their best form.
"We conceded two goals tonight, even though we emphasized defense. We need to improve in that area in the upcoming match. For the World Cup, we will analyze our strengths and weaknesses from this competition," he said.
Oman's head coach, Anwar Al-Habsi, said that the lack of midfield was proven to be one of the determining factors. "Losing the ball in midfield is one of our negatives. This is a good experience for the team. The players need to be more confident and work harder in the upcoming matches," he said.
