Liverpool and Arsenal have been dealt a blow in their apparently chase for Monaco's Thomas Lemar.

The Premier League giants are said to still be interested in going head-to-head for the winger, but they are far from alone.

Atletico Madrid are also interested in £90m-rated Lemar and he's also been linked to Real Madrid.

All clubs could be set for disappointment though, with the Daily Star claiming Lemar "hopes to join Barcelona".

It will be the club, not the 22-year-old, who decides his immediate future though.

Only a huge bid for his services will see Monaco let another of their top talents move away.

He was a key part of the Principality side that stunned PSG to win the French title last season and was on the brink of a switch to the Emirates in the summer should Alexis Sanchez's proposed switch to Manchester City have gone through.

Now Sanchez is on his way to Manchester United with Henrikh Mkhitaryan going the other way - and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is also likely to complete a move from Borussia Dortmund to Arsenal.

Despite such big moves already being in motion, the Daily Mail today claimed Arsenal and Liverpool's interest hasn't waned.

They say Lemar is keen on a move to England and Arsene Wenger is still in the market for a young attacker despite the impending arrival of Mkhitaryan.

Arsenal have been linked with Brazilian ace Malcom, but fell behind Tottenham in the race for the young winger before his Bordeaux bos Gus Poyet insisted he was going nowhere.
